Women’s Self Defense Safety Tips – Snatch Thefts, Let Go Or Defend?
A few days ago, there was a news regarding a pregnant woman motor-cyclist was killed after dragged by snatch-theft for a few hundred meters. Two human beings were killed in this heart-breaking incident.
I was informed by a Chinese tour-guide during my recent trip to China that a similar incident did happen in China, i.e. a lady was killed after her body was dragged by a snatch-theft who was riding a motor-cycle for a few kilometres!!!!! After this incident, the local government decided not to allow any motor-cyclist in certain busy cities in China.
In one of my earlier posts, I have shared my own painfully experience as well.
Yes, you see, anything can happen to anyone anywhere anytime!!!
Many women think that wearing a shoulder bag with the strap diagonally across their body is a GOOD idea BUT, in fact if someone grabs the purse/ handbag in that position and tries to run with it, it can catch the strap around your neck. Keeping your purse close to your body and your arm over it makes it a little harder for someone to grab the purse. Also, being aware of who is around you is very important.
Others may of the opinion that it’s better to just let the snatcher to take your purse in order to protect their life. In fact, I’m of the opinion life is more valuable than anything else but sometimes is how fast your brain respond to such unexpected incident and the ability to react fast enough. Of course, this is the decision someone has to make ON THE SPOT, and such decision is influenced by a lot of different factors.
If the snatcher is trying to hurt or injure you to get the purse, you have the RIGHT to defend yourself to protect against being harmed. In some situations, women make the decision that they would rather give up their purse/ handbag and assume that the snatcher is going to leave with the purse/ handbag and not bother them further.
If that is the decision you make, that’s a reasonable thing to do. If you decide that you want to fight for your purse/ handbag, you should know how to fight and you should make sure that your attacker is NOT ARMED.
Women, ladies might reduce their anxiety about such crime by taking ‘advance steps’ to minimize its impact, such as not carrying much cash, make sure have copies of important documents, and knowing the procedures for reporting stolen credit cards. If you have taken these precautions, it might be easier to give up the purse/ handbag without a fight.
Ladies, women have to be alert and prepared for their own safety and protection, defend themselve to take control in order to stay away from being harms and hurts.
Knowledge is POWER.
Awareness is key.
